Is anxiety causing you difficulty and interfering with your life? You are not alone. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health challenge in the United States, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). As reported by NIMH, almost 18% of Americans suffer from an anxiety disorder each year, and approximately 40 million people will deal with an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives. Private, discreet psychiatric help can be life-transforming.
If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, consider speaking with a psychiatrist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders. Many of us live intensely pressured highly competitive lives. It’s not surprising that so many people have difficulty with anxiety! If you answer yes to one or more of the following questions, you should consider seeing a psychiatrist who can help.
- Are you having difficulty coping with your everyday tasks?
- Do you have feelings of panic and hopelessness?
- Do you have obsessive thoughts and behaviors that interfere with your daily living?
- Are phobias keeping you from going out into the world, even when it is necessary?
- Have you had panic attacks or other strong reactions in response to things like loud noises, social interactions, or being alone?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it is time to seek psychiatric treatment for anxiety. If you think you might have an anxiety disorder, our first step together will be to make sure there aren’t other health problems causing your symptoms. As a physician, I can screen you for possible physical health issues that might be causing anxiety.
In our initial visit, we will do an evaluation and you can get feedback about if medication will be beneficial in helping you cope with your symptoms. If needed — I can prescribe medications that can be helpful in reducing or eliminating your anxiety symptoms, provide brief therapy, or work with your therapist to coordinate care.
I have experience and specialized up-to-date training for treating anxiety, including OCD, phobias, panic attacks, and medication management.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1663497748793{margin-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Psychotherapy? Medication? Both?” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]The two main treatments for anxiety are psychotherapy and/or medication. In some cases, I can provide brief psychotherapy. In other cases, I will work together with your therapist if you are seeing one.
Medication can provide effective relief for a range of anxiety challenges including:
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Panic attacks
- Social anxiety

It can also involve making lifestyle changes, such as getting regular exercise and avoiding triggers that make your anxiety worse.
Over time, you can expect me to monitor how you are feeling emotionally, check in with you about any side effects, and make sure that your physical health is good. With your permission, I can coordinate with your primary care physician.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”middle” css=”.vc_custom_1663497748793{margin-top: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Adjusting medication” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Mediacation for anxiety often needs to be tweaked to get the best results.
