Leading Psychiatry in Southlake, TX

Mental Health Care at Our Southlake Office and Across Texas

Finding a psychiatrist in Southlake, TX that residents can stay with long-term should not be the hardest part of getting better. Ventana Mental Health is a physician-led private practice, and our Southlake office at 420 N Carroll Ave provides in-person psychiatric care, medication management, Spravato, and sublingual ketamine for adults across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Five board-certified psychiatrists and one licensed therapist treat patients at this Southlake location and by secure telepsychiatry statewide.

Every psychiatrist here is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, so your diagnosis, medication, and treatment plan stay with a physician rather than being delegated. Patients have rated the practice 5.0 stars across 61 Google reviews.

Behavioral Health Care Clinic

Welcome to Ventana Mental Health. In Spanish, “Ventana” translates to “window,” evoking a sense of opening up, gaining new perspectives, and looking towards a brighter future for our patients. Ventana Mental Health was started with the specific goal of bringing comprehensive, accessible psychiatric care to Texans. We offer telepsychiatry and therapy to patients throughout the state of Texas, and our Southlake office adds in-person psychiatry, ketamine, and Spravato treatment for patients across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

A patient can start with an in-person evaluation here, move to telepsychiatry for routine follow-ups, and return in person when a treatment such as Spravato requires on-site monitoring, without changing physicians or repeating an intake.

Better Mental Health Care with Ventana

Adult Psychiatry: Diagnostic evaluation, medication management, and ongoing psychiatric care for adults and young adults. Dr. Jorge Corona completed his Adult Psychiatry residency at UT Health San Antonio and sees patients here as well as by secure video across Texas.

Medication Management: Careful prescribing and review for depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other mental disorders. Each treatment plan is built around how you respond and what side effects you can tolerate rather than a default protocol.

Spravato® (Esketamine): An FDA-approved option for treatment-resistant depression, Spravato® works differently than traditional antidepressants and may provide relief for some patients more rapidly than traditional medications. It is administered at our clinic under medical supervision and REMS program guidelines, and it is covered by most major insurance plans.

Sublingual Ketamine: Ketamine is prescribed off-label for depression and anxiety disorders and is not FDA-approved for that use. We provide it here under medical supervision in a comfortable treatment setting.

Psychotherapy and Holistic Care: We provide comprehensive mental health care to meet the needs of our patients, including medication management, therapy, and interventional treatments. Martha Allee, LCSW, provides psychotherapy across Texas, and our holistic approach pairs talk therapy with medication when the two together work better than either alone, so patients receive comprehensive care from a single team.

Mental Health Conditions We Treat at Our Southlake Office

Our psychiatrists treat the full range of adult mental health conditions. These are the mental health concerns patients most often bring to our Southlake location.

Mood Disorders

Major depression, persistent depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder each respond differently to medication, and mistaking one for another is a common reason treatment stalls. We take a careful history before prescribing so that mood disorders are treated as what they actually are. Dr. Corona focuses on treatment-resistant depression and directs Spravato and ketamine treatment here for patients whose depression has not improved after two or more antidepressants. Mood disorders are among the most common mental health conditions we manage.

Anxiety Disorders

Generalized anxiety, panic attacks, and social anxiety are the anxiety disorders we see most often. Treating anxiety well means separating anxiety symptoms from the physical health problems that imitate them, such as thyroid disease or sleep loss, before settling on a treatment plan.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-traumatic stress disorder can persist for years after the event that caused it. Our psychiatrists treat PTSD with medication, coordinated therapy, and in selected cases, the interventional treatment options available on site.

ADHD and OCD

Adult ADHD and OCD are often diagnosed late, sometimes after years of treatment for something else. An accurate diagnosis changes which medication actually helps, and it changes how long you stay on it.

Other Mental Health Concerns

We also treat insomnia and sleep disorders, grief, anger issues, compulsive behaviors, hoarding, schizophrenia, autism spectrum disorder, and adolescent issues. If you are unsure whether your symptoms call for a psychiatrist or a therapist, a first visit will answer that. If you are experiencing suicidal ideation, please do not wait for an appointment. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Ventana Mental Health accepts most major insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, and Tricare. Spravato is covered by most major insurance plans once medical criteria are met, and copays may be as little as $10 for eligible patients. We verify your benefits before treatment begins, so you know the cost before your first visit rather than after.

If we are out of network with your plan, or you would rather not use insurance, we see patients on a self-pay basis and can provide a superbill for reimbursement.

New patients can request an appointment online or by phone. Our team completes a brief phone screening to match you with the right psychiatrist, you choose a time that works, and your first visit happens either at our Southlake office or by secure video. We are currently accepting new patients at this Southlake location.

At that first visit, your psychiatrist reviews your history, what you currently take, the treatment options you have already tried, and what you want to change. Most new patients leave with a treatment plan and a scheduled follow-up, because a first appointment should produce a mental health plan built around you rather than a template. In-person visits at our Southlake location are open to anyone who prefers to be seen face to face, and in-person visits are required for Spravato and ketamine.

Schedule Consultation

Starting a prescription is the beginning of treatment, not the end. Ventana Mental Health schedules follow-ups close enough to catch side effects early and adjusts the dose before a patient abandons a drug that would have worked. Over months, that produces improved mental health rather than a cycle of starting and stopping.

Patients managing long-term mental health challenges often move between in-person and virtual care as circumstances change, and our Southlake location supports both. Self-care habits such as consistent sleep and reduced alcohol belong in every treatment plan we write, because prescribing and personalized care work better alongside them. The goal is steady emotional balance and lasting emotional well-being.

We provide comprehensive online psychiatric care for a wide range of mental health needs, plus in-person care at our Southlake office.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon can I see a psychiatrist at your Southlake office?

Request an appointment online or by phone, and our team runs a short screening call, usually the same or next business day. Most new patients are then offered a first visit within. If you need to be seen sooner, say so on that call, and we will tell you what is actually open.

Are your providers psychiatrists or nurse practitioners?

All five prescribing providers are physicians certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, each having completed medical school and psychiatric residency at a Texas academic medical center. Martha Allee, LCSW, provides psychotherapy. We do not have a nurse practitioner on staff, so every prescription is written by a doctor.

Which insurance plans do you accept?

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Medicare, and Tricare, among others. Spravato is covered by most major insurance plans once medical criteria are met, and copays can be as low as $10 for eligible patients. We verify your benefits before your first visit so the cost is known in advance.

What does a first visit cost if I pay out of pocket?

We see patients on a self-pay basis and can issue a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Ask on the screening call, and you will get the figure before you book, not after.

Do you treat adult ADHD, and can you prescribe for it?

Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons patients come to our Southlake office. Diagnosis starts with a full evaluation rather than a questionnaire, because inattention is also a symptom of depression, anxiety disorders, and sleep loss.

Do I have to come in person, or can I be seen online?

Most psychiatric care works either way, and many patients mix the two, starting in person and moving to video for follow-ups. Spravato and sublingual ketamine are the exceptions. Both require in-person visits at our Southlake location because both need monitoring during and after the dose.

Do you have Spanish-speaking psychiatrists?

Yes. Dr. Sammira Rouhani and Dr. Jorge Corona are both fluent in English and Spanish, and either can conduct your evaluation and ongoing care in Spanish.
